Melamine

  • Detail
  • Parameters

Melamine is an organic compound. It contains 66% nitrogen by mass, and its derivatives have fire-retardant properties due to its release of nitrogen gas when burned or charred. Melamine can be combined with formaldehyde and other agents to produce melamine resins. Such resins are characteristically durable thermosetting plastic used in high pressure decorative laminates such as Formica, melamine dinnerware including cooking utensils, plates, plastic products, laminate flooring, and dry erase boards.

Appearance and properties: white, monoclinic crystal.

Decomposes at 345 ° C.

Melting point () : >300 (sublimation)

Relative density (water =1) : 1.573316

Relative vapor density (air =1) : 4.34

Saturated vapor pressure (kPa) : 6.66

Solubility in water (20) : 0.33g

Solubility: Insoluble in cold water, soluble in hot water, slightly soluble in water, ethylene glycol, glycerin, (hot) ethanol, insoluble in ether, benzene, carbon tetrachloride.

Storage and packaging

1. Store in a cool, ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat. It should be stored separately from oxidizers and acids, and should not be mixed. Storage areas should be equipped with suitable materials to contain leaks.

2. Wrap polypropylene woven bag or hessian bag or kraft paper bag or plastic coated glass wire bag with plastic bag, each bag 25kg or 40kg.
